Customs and DVDs

A couple of times at Customs when I’ve declared that I was bringing back DVDs from the States they somehow got it into their heads that I might be bringing back porn. I think once I was allowed to show them right at the counter, but a later time I got screened out and had to wait until a more thorough search was done.  No porn on any occasions but the first time this issue came up, a couple of the slasher flick Jason Goes to Hell was in my bag. It wasn’t commented upon.  I thought that was an interesting comment on society.  Movies were people were having sex was an issue but movies where people were being hacked up was okay.  Though I suppose to be fair, in porn movies the sex is real and happily no one dies for real in any slasher movies, only fictional characters.  I like to think that’s the reason and not because sex is more taboo than killing.

Sadly, it's probably because society does think that sex is more taboo than killing...
