One of the oddities of
the 1970s and 1980s Saturday mornings on NBC were commercials for Underoos.
Underoos were underwear designed to look like a comic book or cartoon character
(either it would show a full image of the character or be made to look like an
underwear version of the character’s costume).
The commercials even back then seemed a bit odd, with kids dancing in
their underwear, singing about how great the product was. Nowadays, of course,
the commercials seem even more bizarre, a pedophile’s dream. But back then,
while the commercials seemed rather strange, there was still an innocence to
them that unfortunately clash with more modern sensibilities. As it is, I don’t feel right about posting
links to any of videos, but there are plenty of them on YouTube.
